Juvenile Unit

The entire Town of Dover Police Department is responsible for investigating all juvenile delinquency and criminal activity in town.  All officers within the department are trained to conduct juvenile investigations.  They are also specially trained in conducting child sexual exploitation investigations and the investigation of missing and abducted children.

Police officers also engage in a host of juvenile programs in our schools. One of these programs is called the Officer Phil Program. Officers participate in a presentation that is put on by an individual who is contracted out through the police department.   The individual dresses up as a clown and performs for children in grades K-4. The clown does small skits on pedestrian and bicycle safety, how and when to use the 911 emergency lines, and he educates the children not to talk to strangers. The program has been a great success.
