EFFECTIVE USE OF THE 911 SYSTEM

    The 911 system was established in Dover in 1992.  The system is monitored by the Morris County Communications Center.  When a 911 call is placed it is answered at the Morris County Communications Center and a 911 trained telecommunicator will assist the caller with whatever emergency they may have.  This call will then be transferred to the Dover Police Headquarters for dispatch of a Dover Police Unit..

When calling 911 try to remain calm and be sure to give your address, name, and the problem.  Please speak clearly and DO NOT hang up until advised to do so by the telecommunicator.

DO NOT USE 911 FOR ROUTINE INFORMATIONAL CALLS OR CALLS OF A NON-EMERGENT NATURE
